I found these two photographs on the Library of Virginia’s Flickr archive. While going through hundreds of amazing photographs, I began finding relationships between images, creating narratives.
Here I’m imagining the Frenchmen flew over the Lee Monument on their way into Byrd Airport. Seeing General Lee honored in such a way sparked the urgency to wave the confederate flag upon exiting the plane, a peace offering to the savage southerners.
